Enjoy a lovely lunch at The Harmonie Club, hear from bestselling author and amazing speaker Ann Hood, and support a great organization.
Ann Hood is the bestselling author of the novels The Knitting Circle and The Obituary Writer and also the memoir Comfort: A Journey Through Grief, which was named one of the top ten non-fiction books of 2008 by Entertainment Weekly and was a New York Times Editors’ Choice. She’s the recipient of two Pushcart Prizes, two Best American Food Writing Awards, a Best American Travel Writing Award, and a Best American Spiritual Writing Award. Her new novel The Book That Matters Most has just been released.
Graduating from college, Ann believed that you needed adventures in order to be a writer, so she took a job as a flight attendant. Today she knows that all you need to write is to “sit on your own front porch.” Through her writings, she has transformed life observed from her front porch into intimate journeys on which she takes her readers. Ann makes us aware of our vulnerability as human beings but also of the strength that lies in community, be that a bereavement group, a knitting circle, a book club . . . or some other life-affirming collective.
