Ruth’s Refuge Drive + Immigration Action Day

Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 8:00 am to Sunday, March 29, 2020 from 5:00 pm

Our immigration system is under attack. New restrictions on immigrants and refugees have put vulnerable people in danger, and the constant changes in the system put the future of millions in flux.
Even after arriving and securing an apartment, many families are unable to invest in furniture and other home goods, as they work to pay off debts and establish a new life. Ruth’s Refuge is the only organization in the city dedicated to providing the building blocks of a new home for refugees.
From now until March 29th, NCJW NY will be collecting items going to Ruth’s Refuge. These items will allow Ruth’s Refuge to provide home essentials to refugees and asylum seekers rebuilding their lives here in New York City.
You can participate by purchasing items and dropping them off at Council House (241 W. 72nd Street) Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 AM-3 PM, or by shopping through our Amazon Wishlist and have it delivered to us directly. Some of the items we’re looking to collect include:
  • Paper towels
  • Toilet paper
  • Cleaning supplies: bathroom cleaner, spray cleaner for counters, Lysol
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap (bar)
  • Laundry detergent
