Every August, we transform Council House into a “pop-up department store,” where kids from all over the city come to “shop” for brand new back to school essentials, including a brand new outfit, socks and shoes, a warm winter coat, a backpack filled with school supplies, and an age-appropriate reference book, all provided entirely free of charge. What makes the B2SS so special is the in-store experience when children are empowered to select items that express their style without worrying how much it might cost.
After being unable to hold the Store last year, we are thrilled to host a “hybrid” event this year! Families can choose to receive pre-filled backpacks or come to the Store for an in-person shopping experience. After the tough year they’ve had, the Back 2 School Store has never been more important for our city’s struggling families.
